Political consultations on opportunities for deepening cooperation between Slovenia and Colombia

SLOVENIA, March 10 - The two senior officials confirmed their mutual interest in deepening bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation, including within the framework of the Latin American and Caribbean region. Particular emphasis was placed on upgrading economic cooperation, establishing links in science and research and exchanging best practices in digitalisation and artificial intelligence. The importance of joint action to protect the environment and tackle climate change was also highlighted, including water resource management and the promotion of the green energy transition.

Regarding multilateral issues, State Secretary Gabrič shared Slovenia's experience on the United Nations Security Council, of which Colombia is currently a member. The discussion also covered the priorities of both countries during their UN Human Rights Council membership, as well as the current geopolitical, economic and security situation. The two senior officials emphasised the importance of respecting international law, promoting multilateralism and strengthening dialogue as key tools for addressing global challenges.

The consultations confirmed Slovenia and Colombia's shared commitment to enhancing political dialogue and substantive cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels.
